Visitor Attraction Expo has Got Talent!

Organisers of the Visitor Attraction Expo, taking place 13-15th January 2015, have revealed details of a comprehensive seminar and education programme, organised by BALPPA and highly relevant to visitors of both shows.

Commenting on the programme content, Organiser Karen Cooke explained: “Visitors to both VAE and EAG will be treated to an impressive array of products and services for the amusements and attractions sector with history confirming that a lot of business will be done. We firmly believe, however, that the shows should also deliver a forum for the sharing of ideas, experiences and initiatives. The programme has been carefully designed to appeal to the wider leisure community, featuring talented presenters who are at the top of their game and really know our industry well,” revealed Karen.

Each seminar will address a current hot issue, with the focus on risk reduction and business development.

Robert Kluth, Director of the Leisure Division of Lorica Insurance will be opening proceedings by charting a course through the minefields of the Ministry of Justice’s Liability Claims Portal and the HSE Fee for Intervention. An engaging speaker, Robert will also speak on Claims Reporting and obligations under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations Act (RIDDOR).

Still on a theme of difficult issues which have a habit of coming back to haunt us, Charlotte Cooper will be hosting a session entitled ‘The Disciplinary Procedure- How to do it properly.’ Charlotte is Head of Employment Law at Plexus Law, a pioneering practice with a refreshing ‘can do’ approach.

Increasingly, leisure businesses are turning to Mystery Shoppers as a tool for achieving exceptional customer service. In a revealing presentation ‘Customers, love them or lose them, Jonathan Winchester of Shoppers Anonymous will deliver a fascinating insight into this secret world. With attractions clients ranging from Cadbury World to family owned farm parks, Jonathan can draw on a wealth of practical experience.

Picsolve’s Global Business Development Director, Baz Slatter, will be taking a close look at consumer behaviour in ‘How the social media explosion is affecting the leisure and attractions industry.’ Baz is hugely experienced in digital media and will be revealing how everyday technology could threaten attractions revenues, along with some very practical examples of initiatives to overcome this risk.

Scott Brown, Director of Business development for We Do Digital (WDD) will be presenting two sessions, ‘Social Media Magic – aligning your social media strategy with your overall business goals,’ followed by ‘Practical ideas to make 2015 the year of achieving excellent customer service in you FEC.’ A frequent speaker at industry conferences around the world, Scott has a background in FEC operations and a passion for digital media.

In selecting the seminars and speakers, the BALPPA team has focused on relevant topics, with a fresh delivery style, by talented people who really know their business; gone are the days of dry and dusty Old School presentations. All show visitors are welcome to participate in these unique events, completely free of charge.
